shanah leaf- bio

I was born in Oklahoma City in 1994, but moved to Colorado Springs with my family when I was a young girl. I began doodling on random objects and pages, unknowingly practicing a surrealist technique called “automatic drawing”. Throughout my education at UCCS, I explored this practice more extensively in a means to exercise the immediacy of my response to a canvas. I find expressing myself in this instinctive way to be raw and liberating, as well as a beautiful exploration of my most genuine self.

degree & employment

I graduated from UCCS with a Visual and Performing Arts degree in May 2018. I currently work as an elementary assistant art teacher.

I also work pat-time as a freelance artist often to taking commissions: illustrations, portraits, logo designs, album cover art, and murals. Feel free to contact me with serious inquiries!
